Scoop Candle Holder

Scoop Candle Holder

Based on old farm feed scoop this piece is a practical candleholder.

The shape of the back makes this very reflective. The shape also protects the flame from a draft.

This is a fun simple piece to make. The challenge is in cutting the top edge. It needs to be nice and smooth. It takes some practice.

Why the iPhone proves I am a bad business man

Tags: , ,

I have been reluctantly listening to too many reports and podcast about the iPhone over the last couple of days. Far too many.

l have been working hard to be an effective operator of a business. I have tried to treat my customers with respect. I try to price things fairly and treat my staff well. I have been a fool.

To my shagreen Steve Jobs has proven that I have made a by mistake. Obviously customers must see me a schmuck.Respect doesn’t beget respect, but rather contempt. Who knew?

I can’t even imagine what my staff thinks? Imagine if I treated them like Jobs does. Why I might have less sick time, greater productivity, and less employee theft. In fact I already have that and I don’t have to yell or belittle anyone.

Ok-removing tongue from cheek…. I have a hard time liking Apple because of his behaviour. Apple makes great products. But it is hard to listen to the Fan Boys go on and on. Jobs is not a role model. If any of my kids behaved like him there would he hell to pay. For those of you that idolize him think about that. And don’t tell me it is the temperament of a genius – the Google boys disprove that.

I Don’t Bake Cookies But My Customers Do!

Bathtub

My customers are very creative!

I love getting pictures from them showing the product of their labour. This is a great example of a delicious looking cookie made by Leah Rosch owner of What a Cookie.

She requested an antique bathtub on our Custom Cookie Cutter form. Leah gave me some great help in the design process. I made up the cutter and she sent the picture. Too bad I didn’t get some cookie’s!
